10/8: Last day in Battambang

After finally being able to Skype Alexander and Zachary in the morning, relaxing and packing for the next day's trip down river to Siem Reap to see Angkor Wat, we walked into town since the flooded streets had dried up a fair bit.

Scenes on our walk into town.

Another market photo.

Could hardly believe one could still get a dorm room in 2013 for only $2 a night in ANY part of the world.  I'll have you know OUR dorm room in Ulan Ude, Siberia, Russia was far more expensive than that!

In my last post, I mentioned the oh so yummy donuts, rolls and breads from BB's bakery - we thought we had died and gone to heaven!

This was the scene of my big gaffe - see the white mug on the table?  The server had brought it filled with hot water only to the table; I put my hands around it and the server immediately came running back to the table and told me inno uncertain terms NOT to drink the water as it was only to further clean the cutlery that was already on the table!  All the other servers and Steven of course got a big laugh out of that as did I!

Natalie - this one's for you, hon.  The fried rice and veggies was delicious and cost all of $3.50 each, if that.

What a beautiful restaurant - it was situated on a corner, so we had perfect views of everything going on one the streets around it.

Some of the French colonial architecture BB is known for.

The far more typical BB street view.

I goofed in my last post - this was where I had my nail polish removed for all of.25 or 1000 riel - what a deal.

Mr Kun, the charming owner of BB, My Homestay, where we stayed.

Nice to sit down and rest a bit after walking around town on a very hot and humid day. Janina and Pat - any idea what tree that would be?
