9/30 and 10/1: Photos for last day in CM and first day in Bangkok post

Have a good internet connection here in Kampot, Cambodia so I'll try and loads photos from the last few posts -my fingers and toes are crossed that I can, without pulling my hair out that is!

Hair and nail salon in Chiang Mai I was pampered at.

The 2 lovely ladies who did my finger and toe nails.  The Dutch expat I spoke to is in the background.

Our "love nest" at Khao San Baan Thai in Bangkok - it was a LONG way down to the bed for people our age!

Waiting for our first ferry at N13 pier on the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok.

Nope, I didn't miss the ferry while taking photos; this was the express ferry and not the slower on we wanted.

Our first view of the Grand Palace.

A long list of what you cannot wear before entering the palace.

The palace is enormous and contains so many buildings.  Not like a palace I'd have thought of before the trip in the sense of their being just ONE building to wander through.  Steven's wearing his rented pants in this photo.

EACH tile cost $1!

We loved these murals on the outside walls, albeit under an overhang - just stupendous.

Pillar upon pillar with the murals to the right.

Sorry if you've seen too many of my flower pictures but I loved seeing the lotus and other flowers!

Still more of the Grand Palace!

Hope you STILL haven't seen enough of the Grand Palace because there are even more below!  Hard to know what to include as I took 3 photos of the salon in CM and 152 photos on 10/1!

Thailand's flag in the background.

Thought these door panels were intriguing.

Our last shot of the Palace - this one's for you, Zachary!

Walking from the Grand Palace to Wat Pho and saw this man on the sidewalk.  Have never seen anyone crochet so fast in my life, let alone a man - hope that doesn't sound too sexist.  His finished baskets are just visible on the lower left of the picture.

Wat Pho, known for its Reclining Buddha.

People putting alms in each of the bowls.

Not sure I see enough gold statues here!

Another interior shot of Wat Pho.
First view of Wat Arun: the wat with all the steps.

Almost at the Wat Arun Pier

Welcoming sign to Wat Arun.

I wasn't kidding about all the steps at Wat Arun!

View of Bangkok from atop the wat.

Saw a number of these signs with vendors on Bangkok's streets: can't imagine these fake ID's would pass muster with many border agents, etc or where the spies in all the spy novels we read go to buy their counterfeit ID's!

More gorgeous flowers for sale, just like the ones we saw in the CM's Flower Market.
